Carta Integration
AngelStat leverages the Investor and Portfolio APIs from Carta. Below, we detail the types of data you can import from each API.
Investor API integration
AngelStat's integration with the Carta Investor API specifically leverages the Securities API. This API provides investments that are grouped into 3 categories: certificates, warrants and convertible notes. These 3 categories are available at the firm and fund levels, and you should see them represented as such. AngelStat will ingest each of these, depending on the user's permissions at the time of authorization, and display their data in the Portfolio view alongside other investments.
Since Carta leverages FMV to price some datasets, clicking on the detail view of a Carta investment may expose additional data that was made available via the API. Contrary to AngelList, Carta provides a rich exposure to FMV of the company, allowing us to accurately track the status of your investments.
Portfolio API integration
AngelStat's second integration with Carta leverages the Portfolio API. Portfolios contain securities issued by issuers. On Carta, issuers can be a corporation or an LLC (that you invested in directly), or another entity like a fund. Not all issuers on Carta have a website and profile established, so unlike direct company investments you see on AngelStat, you may not have a corporate profile affiliated with the investment.
The Portfolio API from Carta also leverages FMV for pricing, and AngelStat makes usage of that to calculate the value of the investment. In some cases, initial investment amount is not provided through the API so AngelStat will leverage the FMV to price your investment and model performance. In these cases it is advised for you to manually update the "amount invested" so that these numbers can be used to calculate performance metrics like MOIC.
