📪Adding an investment manually

Step 1 - Browse to the Portfolio page

Browse to the Portfolio page in the left menu. Click the +Add an Investment button to manually enter your first investment.

Step 2 - Select the company

In the modal under the Company section, choose the company you invested in, or click the +Add a Company button. Once you have selected the company, move on to the Status section.

Step 3 - Enter the investment details

In the Status section, select the current status of the investment. The options are Active, Exited, or Shutdown. Unless you are aware that the company has exited or shuttered operations, select Active.

In most cases, Exited and Shutdown statuses will be used later in the portfolio management process, but not when manually adding new investments.

Once you have selected the status, select the Investment Date by clicking on the item and entering the date.

Step 4 - Add the investment terms

Under the Investment Status section, choose the type of Raise and Round using the selections provided.

Raise includes a number of options: SAFE, Equity, Convertible Note and other options.

Round includes each round or stage of fundraise, for example: Angel, Pre-Seed, Seed(+), Series (A-F+), Secondary, etc.

Once you have added the Raise and Round, enter the Investment Amount. Continue adding the remaining investment terms included in the form. If you have received Pro-Rata terms, set the toggle on. If the investment terms include a discount, set the toggle on and enter the discount provided.

AngelStat uses the terms entered to estimate your equity ownership, so it's helpful to be as accurate as possible.

Finally, for Carry Rate, the form defaults to 20%. You do not need to enter anything here unless the carry rate is different from the 20% standard.

Step 5 - Enter the fundraise details

First, enter the amount in millions that the company is raising in the Amount Raising box. If a company is raising less than 1M, you may use a decimal to indicate a lesser amount. For example, $750,000 would be entered as .750.

Next, enter the valuation for this fundraise in millions using the same method in the Valuation box.

Lastly, if you know the revenue or ARR for this company at the time of investment, you may enter that as well in the Revenue box using the same method as Amount Raising and Valuation.

Step 6 - Submit the Investment

When all of the investment details are completed, click the Submit button.

Congrats! 🥳 You've entered your first investment!
